The Chatham Yacht Club was founded on three
central principles: to promote sailboat racing on Pleasant Bay, to teach
sailing to young people, and to encourage active volunteerism through service
to the club. These traditional principles are central to the club today.
All members are urged to participate in racing and all members are asked
to volunteer in some way. The club relies on the community spirit of its
members in every aspect of its organization. The club is composed of a wonderful
group of people, but it is first and foremost a sailing club and not a social
club.
There are four classes of membership at
CYC:
-
Family with no children
-
Family with children
- Individual
- Supporting non-active member
Children and adults must be members in order to participate in Sailing School. Members are encouraged to participate in weekly Series races; non-members are invited to race twice per season in CYC Series races. The public is invited to race in the annual CYC regatta.
There is currently a waiting list for membership
at CYC. If you are interested in adding your name to the waiting list, please
fill in and return the Wait
List application. If you have any remaining questions about
membership after returning the form, please
contact the CYC
Membership coordinator. Membership forms and fees are due in early
April for the coming summer sailing season.
